Choosing a Drop-in Bathroom Basin

Drop-in basins—also called inset or self-rimming basins—are installed through an opening cut into a vanity top or bathroom benchtop. The basin rim rests above the surface, helping support the basin and conceal the cut edge.

Compact stainless-steel basins

The round Lineabeta stainless-steel basins are useful where vanity top or below top space is limited. Stainless steel allows for a thinner space-saving construction compared with ceramics. Remember to compare the overall diameter carefully, as even a small difference can affect tap placement and the usable area around the basin.

Flat or rounded rim

Flat-edge models create a clean, minimal appearance. Rounded models provide a more defined rim around the basin and are better for semi-recessed installations. Consider which profile best complements the vanity top and surrounding tapware.

Larger ceramic basins

A larger ceramic inset basin can provide more washing space and a more conventional bathroom appearance. Check the overall dimensions, tap-hole arrangement and available cabinet space before ordering.

Plan the installation first

Confirm the required benchtop cut-out with your installer before the vanity top is manufactured or altered. Allow room beneath the basin for its full depth, waste connection and plumbing. Product dimensions describe the basin itself and should not be treated as a cutting template.
